Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku II is an action-RPG game for the Gameboy Advance. It was played from a top-down perspective and had players taking control of various characters during the Android and Cell sagas. There were two other games in the Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku series but this remains the best in the series thanks to the dozens of hours of fun gameplay it contains.

This changed not only changed the way Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3 was played but changed the way all future Dragon Ball games would be made.

Have you ever wanted to create your own Dragon Ball character? Well, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 allows you to do that. Your created character becomes a Time Patroller that must protect key moments of the Dragon Ball timeline. There’s plenty to do and experience this game making it the ultimate Dragon Ball game in terms of the amount of content it contains. The story mode allows players to restore the Dragon Ball timeline, while Parallel Quests allow you to experience events from the Dragon Ball series with different characters.

There are plenty of other modes as well from the Endless Fight mode, the Giant-Boss mode, and the raid battle modes that allow up to six players to tackle really difficult bosses. That’s not to mention all the playable characters that are in the base game and available as DLC. If you want a Dragon Ball game that has a lot of content for your buck, you don’t have to look further than Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.

2. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is the latest game to release on the list and retells the events of the entire Dragon Ball Z series. While Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot does have its faults it’s all the little details that the game contains that makes it good. The amount of world-building that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot does is really impressive, you are constantly finding out little details about the world of Dragon Ball and its characters that the anime never mentioned. This all while you are playing as Goku as he does various tasks and side missions while progressing through the story.

The gameplay when in battles feels good and while boss battles can sometimes be long and difficult towards the climax of them, you’ll almost always feel as if you are actually playing the anime followed by a feeling of accomplishment when defeating the boss. When Dragon Ball FighterZ released it was truly the Dragon Ball Z game fans of the series were waiting for. The game’s graphics are done in a style that looks as if they came right out of the anime and more importantly it hands down has the best gameplay out of all of the Dragon Ball video games.

Following the gameplay style of both an anime fighter fused with Marvel vs. Capcom 2. With the fast-paced gameplay and visuals, it’d be hard not to have this game at the top of the list. Sure it may not have hundreds of playable characters like some of the other Dragon Ball games on this list but the most popular characters from the Dragon Ball series are all playable and every character plays differently and has plenty of moves that are unique to them, so it’s well worth the trade-off.
