2020 is here with it brings a whole new batch of games scheduled to release this year. So we’re going to be counting down the top 10 games we’re most excited for that are currently scheduled to release in 2020. There are a lot of games to be excited for but with and a couple of games like Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot and Godfall barely missed the cut. Let’s take a look at the top 10 games to be excited for in 2020 and see if the one you are most excited about made our list.
10. Resident Evil 3
Sequel to last year’s Resident Evil 2 Remake, Capcom is looking to follow its success with Resident Evil 3. Resident Evil 3 will follow the same remake formula that Resident Evil 2 followed but will further mix things up with new playable sections and higher emphasis on action.
The game will also include a brand new multiplayer experience called Resident Evil Resistance which will have players participating in a 4v1 multiplayer experience where four players will control survivors who try to escape the player playing as the mastermind. The Mastermind is able to lay traps and zombies around the map that the survivors must then overcome in order to escape.
Resident Evil 3 will be released for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on April 3 and is available for preorder now.
9. Marvel’s Avengers
Outside of 2018’s critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man and a few other Marvel video game titles in recent years, Marvel has been mostly quiet on the video game front. However, Marvel will be getting another video game this year in the form of Marvel’s Avengers. Marvel’s Avengers is being developed by Crystal Dynamics, the same team that has brought us the newer Tomb Raider games.
Marvel’s Avengers will have players trying to reunite the Avengers after they have disbanded. Players can enjoy the game is both an offline single-player experience or an online multiplayer experience with up to four players. The will be unique skills and costumes that players will be able to customize each character with. Marvel’s Avengers was just recently hit with a delay but will be available for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on September 4 and is available for preorder.
8. Psychonauts 2
It’s been 15 years since Psychonauts released back on the Xbox and PS2 bringing its charm to the action-adventure platformer genre. First announced in 2015, it’s 2020 now and Psychonauts 2 is scheduled to release sometime this year on the PS4, Xbox One, PC, Linux, and Mac.
Double Fine looks to continue the quirky humor and great platforming that made the first game so memorable with Psychonauts 2. Psychonauts 2 was originally on the crowdfunding platform fig.co and had a campaign goal of 3.3 million dollars. It beat its funding goal on January 12, 2016, with a total of 24,109 backers and racking in a little more than 3.8 million dollars. Psychonauts 2 is bound to be one of the best platformers of the year when it inevitably releases later this year.
7. Doom Eternal
Only announced two years ago at E3 2018, Doom Eternal is looking to be another high action game in the series. Taking place two years after 2016’s Doom, players once again take control of the Doom Slayer as he tries to save the human race from Hell’s demons.
Players will have access to a variety of their favorite weapons from past games along with some new ones. Doom Eternal will also have a variety of multiplayer modes including the new Battlemode which be a 1v2 multiplayer mode and have one player controlling a demon slayer and two players controlling demons in a strategic and competitive fight. Doom Eternal is scheduled to release for the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch on March 20 and is now available for preorder.
6. Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the upcoming game in Nintendo’s ultra-popular social simulation game series. Unlike past games in the series that saw players moving to a new town and helping out its residents with various tasks, Animal Crossing: New Horizons will see players going on a getaway vacation by Nook Inc. to a deserted island. It is here that players will be able to gather resources and supplies in order to be able to craft furniture for your home and the landscape of the island.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons will allow for up to 8 players on an island simultaneously through online multiplayer or 4 players on an island through local multiplayer. Animal Crossing: New Horizons will release for the Nintendo Switch on March 20 and is now available for preorder.
