A Blizzard launch event was scheduled to take place in NYC on October 16, 2019, to celebrate the release of Overwatch: Legendary Edition on the Nintendo Switch. There were separate time slots for guests to attend, one without registration and one with registration. If you were part of the first 150 fans to be registered, there was a chance to meet some of the voice actors and actresses.
The event has since been canceled, which was announced on the official Nintendo NYC twitter account. Nintendo has only announced the cancellation, with no response from Blizzard about the matter.
Blizzard has already been making headlines after a controversial decision regarding Hearthstone player Blitzchung during the Asia-Pacific Grandmasters event. In the time since, J. Allen Brack, president of Blizzard Entertainment, released a statement on the matter. However, no changes have been made regarding the Overwatch event for Nintendo in NYC. Overwatch: Legendary Edition released today, October 15, 2019, for the Nintendo Switch.
