PlayStation State of Play September 2019 – Everything Announced

PlayStation has received another State of Play today, showcasing new games coming to the PS4 and giving a better a look at The Last of Us Part II along with a release date.


Humanity looks to be a different kind of game that looks to focus on the human race’s “birdlike behavior.” A lot more information about the inspiration and development process can be seen on the official PlayStation Blog. Humanity will release on PS4 and PSVR during 2020.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Story Trailer

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare received a new trailer showing a better look at the game’s story in its campaign mode. Modern Warfare will see familiar characters make a return in new ways and will see players hunting down terrorists who have chemical weapons and are not afraid to use them.

A teaser was also shown for the game’s Special Ops survival mode. Which looks like it will have players trying to survive waves of enemies. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will release for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 25 and can be preordered on Amazon.


Wattam is a new game that comes from Katamari Damacy creator, Keita Takahashi. It is a narrative-based game that will see players connecting the interesting characters of the game across various worlds. It can be played solo or cooperative with a friend. Wattam will release for the PS4 during December 2019.

Arise: A Simple Story

Arise: A simple story looks to be an adventure game that takes some inspiration from Journey and will see the player traveling across various lands.

The game’s developer Piccolo Studios wants the story of the game to feel personal to the player and bring back both sad and happy memories the players themselves have experienced. For more information about Arise: A Simple Story, you can visit the official PlayStation Blog.

L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files Announced and Out Today

A surprise announcement, L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files will include seven cases from the original game rebuilt from the ground up for VR. In addition to the cases, L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files will also include three minigames; Boxing, Speedcar Racing, and Shooting Galleries.

More PlayStation VR Games Coming

A montage video showcasing upcoming PlayStation VR games was shown during the State of Play. Some of these new games include Gorn Battles, which is a gladiator simulator that will be releasing later this year. After the Fall which is a multiplayer action shooter that takes place in a post-apocalyptic Los Angeles, that will release in 2020. And Space Channel 5: Kinda Funky News Flash, which will be out later this year.

MediEvil Demo Out Today

The remade upcoming PlayStation Classic, MediEvil will be receiving a demo on the PlayStation Store today. Players who play the demo can earn Dan’s Helmet which will be earnable exclusively in the demo but can be used in the main game.

If you want to play the demo, you better hurry though as the demo will only be available until October 7. MediEvil is available for preorder on Amazon and will release exclusively on the PS4 on October 25.

Civilization VI Coming to PS4

Civilization VI will finally be making its way to PS4 when it releases for the platform on November 22. An expansion bundle will also release on November 22 and will include the Rise and Fall and Gathering Storm expansion packs.

Death Stranding Limited Edition PS4 Pro Bundle

Death Stranding will be receiving a limited edition PS4 Pro bundle for $399.99. The bundle will include Death Stranding, a 1TB white and black PS4 Pro with two BT handprints and a translucent orange DualShock 4 wireless controller. The bundle will be available on November 8 which is the same day Death Stranding releases on the PS4.


A trailer for Afterparty was shown which have you play as two friends trying to escape hell by beating Satan in a drinking game. The game looks to be a fun narrative adventure when it releases for the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

October’s PlayStation Plus Games

PlayStation Plus members will be getting both MLB The Show 19 and The Last of Us Remastered. MLB The Show 19 is the newest game in the long-running franchise, having just released this year. While The Last of Us Remastered has been out for a while, but now that it is free it will allow the few PlayStation fans that have yet to play it another chance before the release of The Last of Us Part II.

The Last of Us Part II Release Date Revealed

The Last of Us Part II has received both a new trailer and a release date in the new State of Play. The Last of Us Part II will finally be released on February 21, 2020, for the PS4.

The new trailer gives us a better look at the story and challenges the Ellie will be facing in The Last of Us Part II along with a first look at returning protagonist Joel. While The Last of Us was certainly an intense game, The Last of Us Part II looks to up the intensity when it is released for the PS4 on February 21, 2020.

Some different editions of the game were also revealed over on the PlayStation Blog, including the Ellie Edition which will include a steelbook including the full game, a 12″ Ellie Statue, a 48 page mini art book, Ellie’s Bracelet, a logo patch, a lithograph art print and thank you letter, a 7″ vinyl record with music from the game, a set of 5 stickers, six pins, and Ellies backpack, along with a bunch of digital goodies. This will be the definitive edition to get for any true Last of Us fan.
