Project Resistance is the newest spinoff of Resident Evil. It has received its first trailer via Resident Evil’s official YouTube channel ahead of the Tokyo Game Show. While not much is known about the game yet, the details revealed in the trailer show that this will indeed be a multiplayer game. If you’re familiar with Resident Evil’s past multiplayer games like Resident Evil: Outbreak, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, and Umbrella Corps. you’re probably aware that they are not the greatest games. This may not be like those Resident Evil titles though, as with the last couple of Resident Evil games Capcom has seemed to have found their groove again. We even gave Resident Evil 2 a very favorable score.
With the last couple Resident Evil games returning to their roots in survival horror, it did at first seem strange that Capcom would opt to make the next Resident Evil game multiplayer-centric as the multiplayer Resident Evil games usually lack the intensity and fear the single-player Resident Evil games bring with it. However, unlike past multiplayer titles in the series, the trailer hints that Project Resistance seems to be a cross between Left 4 Dead and Dead by Daylight. The trailer follows four characters as they navigate their way through an Umbrella facility. There is a mysterious character watching them and releasing zombies and lickers to attack the characters as they progress through the facility. The trailer ends with Mr. X showing up after it is revealed that the mysterious character is controlling him. The whole trailer gives off Left 4 Dead vibes with the end possibly hinting that the game could also be a 4 vs 1 similar to how Friday the 13th or Dead by Daylight is.
More details will be revealed about Project Resistance at the Tokyo Game Show later this week. While Project Resistance doesn’t have a release date right now it will be available for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC when it is released.
