On the third and final day of EVO 2019 saw a slew of exciting games and exciting matches within those games played at the Mandalay Bay Events Center. The exciting matches weren’t the only thing that could be seen at this exciting event as trailers were also show for a new game, new updates, and DLC all fighting game related further increasing the hype of this third and final day.

BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle the “Next” Version 2.0

BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle The “Next” Version 2.0 was shown at the end of the BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle tournament at EVO 2019. The version 2.0 patch will be a free update which will include various balance adjustments for all characters. The “Ver. 2.0 Expansion Pack” will be released alongside the free patch but cost $24.99. The expansion pass will include nine new characters, a brand new scenario, new character interactions, and new colors.

The nine new characters will also include guest characters such as Neo Politan from RWBY, Yumi from Senran Kagura Estival Versus, and Akatsuki and Bliztank from Akatsuki Blitzkampf. Version 2.0 is essentially BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle’s 2nd season and will be updating the game on November 21 for the PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC versions of BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle.

A New Samurai Shodown Character Every Month for the Rest of 2019

Samurai Shodown players are going to be getting five new characters this year as DLC. Four of these characters are part of the season pass, so players will be able to buy them as a bundle or individually for $5.99, and that’s only if they haven’t already gotten the season pass for free. These characters are Rimuru who just recently released, Basara who will be releasing in October, Kazuki Kazama, who has a November release, and Wan-Fu who will be the last of the fighters to release, releasing sometime in December. Shizumaru Hisame while not part of the season pass will also be releasing for free and in September. So Samurai Showdown looks as if it still has a busy year ahead of it.

The trailer which mainly highlighted the characters that will be releasing this year also gave a tease that a 2nd season is already in the works. Ninja Majikina look like she will be the first character in season 2 to release when they begin to roll out in 2020.

The King of Fighters XV Announced

The King of Fighters XV was confirmed today during tye finals. A brief teaser trailer was shown, saying the game is now in development and not much more than that. No release date was given in the trailer but it’s likely this will be out by late 2020.

SoulCalibur VI Gets Cassandra and a Season 2

Bandai Namco had a couple of trailers to show off for some upcoming content for SoulCalibur VI. The first trailer focused on the return of Cassandra who just came to the game a couple of days ago on August 5.

The second trailer was a reveal trailer for season 2. While no release date was given for season 2, the trailer did say it was coming soon and it will have four characters in the season pass. One of these characters will be Haohmaru who will be a guest character from Samurai Shodown. The SoulCalibur franchise is no stranger to guest characters so the inclusion of Haohmaru is quite fitting.

SoulCalibur VI and its first season pass are both available now on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

New Guilty Gear on the way

After the Tekken 7 finals wrapped up, Daisuke Ishiwateri who created Guilty Gear wanted to give attendees a look at what he’s been up to and that was when he showed a short teaser for a new Guilty Gear game. While the trailer does give a good quick small look at the upcoming game, it doesn’t show much more than that. While this new Guilty Gear does not have a release date yet or a final name, we will be hearing a lot more about this game in 2020.

Tekken 7 Season 3 Revealed

Tekken 7 looks to stay a powerhouse of the FGC for another year, as Bandai Namco announced that Tekken 7 will be receiving a season 3. Season 3 will begin next month in September alongside the release of returning character Zafina. Zafina and brand new character Leeroy Smith were both revealed in the season 3 reveal trailer. In addition to the two characters announced in the trailer, season 3 will be bringing with it another two characters who are at this time unannounced, a brand new feature and a new stage. There will also be various free updates throughout the season including new moves, play stats display, updated UI, expanded practice functionality, and My Replay & Tips. Tekken 7’s third season will begin in September, and the game is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Those were all the biggest announcements having to do with newly announced games and upcoming DLC that will surely keep players busy until next year’s EVO and beyond.
