Nintendo was all about there upcoming games at this years E3 Direct and even had a few surprise games and surprise Smash Bros Ultimate characters to announce. Let’s take a look at what was announced and shown.
The Hero from Dragon Quest Joins Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
The heroes from the Dragon Quest franchise have been revealed as the next characters or characters to be coming to Super Smash Bros Ultimate. It appears as if the hero from Dragon Quest XI will be the default character costume and the main heroes from the other Dragon Quests will be the alternate costumes or colors. The Hero from Dragon Quest will be joining Smash Bros Ultimate this Summer.
Dragon Quest XI S
Dragon Quest XI S is being marketed as the definitive edition of Dragon Quest XI and while it’s graphics may not be as shiny it is certainly looking like it is, in fact, the definitive edition as there is new content including new mounts. You can even play Dragon Quest XI S with 2D graphics. Dragon Quest XI S is releasing for the Nintendo Switch on September 27.
Luigi’s Mansion 3
Luigi’s Mansion 3 will take place in a haunted hotel. After Luigi, Mario, Peach, and Toad when a stay at a hotel, Mario, Peach, and Toad go missing and it’s up to Luigi to find them. Players who want to play with a friend can do so by giving a controller to a friend and having them control Gooigi who has his own abilities separate from Luigi. Luigi’s Mansion 3 is scheduled for Release on the Nintendo Switch sometime this year.
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics
The Dark Crystal is getting a spinoff Tactical RPG Game titled The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics. It is being developed by BonusXP, the same development team that made the Stranger Things mobile game and Stranger Things: The Video Game which is being released in the near future. It’ll have players moving across a grid battling enemies. The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics will be releasing sometime this year.
The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening
The remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is going to include some new features as revealed in today’s trailer like giving players the ability to create their own dungeons which they can then play through and earn rewards. If you’re excited to check this out you won’t have to wait too much longer as The Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening is releasing on September 20.
Trials of Mana and Collection of Mana
What was previously known as Seiken Densetsu 3 and never released in the west is now getting a full remake titled Trials of Mana in the west and will be released worldwide in early 2020.
If you want to check out the former Japan exclusive Trials of Mana (Seiken Densetsu 3) today, you can check out the original as it is part of the Collection of Mana which also includes Secret of Mana and Final Fantasy Adventure. We earlier reported about the trademarking of Collection of Mana, so we knew it was coming just not this soon.
The Wither 3: Complete Edition
Rumors have been going around that The Witcher 3: Complete Edition was coming to the Nintendo Switch. Now it appears that those rumors were true as a trailer just confirmed that Projeckt Red’s critically acclaimed game is in fact coming to the Nintendo Switch later this year with all of its content.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Fire Emblem: Three Houses is right around the corner, releasing July 26th. It received a new trailer today and it looks like it is shaping up to be one of the best entries in the series to date.
Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6
The Resident Evil Remake and Resident Evil 0 and 4 just released on the Nintendo Switch but that isn’t stopping Capcom from bringing over two more Resident Evil titles to the Nintendo Switch. Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 are releasing for Nintendo Switch this fall.
No More Heroes III
No More Heroes III brings No More Heroes back to its roots. Revealed with a stylish trailer that has Travis Touchdown making Star Wars jokes. Travis is looking to shake things up again in No More Heroes III when it releases for the Nintendo Switch in 2020.
Contra: Rogue Corps and Contra: Anniversary Collection
Contra is receiving a new game with Contra: Rogue Corps. Contra: Rogue Corps has an isometric view during gameplay and will have players controlling both classic Contra characters and newcomers alike. It will be releasing for Nintendo Switch on September 24.
If you can’t wait to get your Contra fix, Contra: Anniversary Collection will be available on Nintendo’s eShop later today. Contra: Anniversary Collection is a 10-game collection includes Contra for the NES, Arcade, and Famicom, Super Contra, Super C, Operation C, Contra 3: The Alien Wars, Contra: Hard Corps, Probotector and Super Probotector: Alien Wars.
Daemon X Machina
Daemon X Machina received a new trailer today that focused on its story. Players will defend the planet with your fully custimizable mechs from A.I. controlled robots. Daemon X Machina is releasing or Nintendo Switch of September 13.
Panzer Dragoon: Remake
Sega’s classic Panzer Dragoon is getting a remake on Nintendo Switch. The shooter that takes place in the skies will be true to the original but also have improvements, improved graphics being the most notable one. Look for Panzer Dragoon when it releases this winter.
Developed by Platinum Games who are masters of the action genre. Astral Chain will have players playing as a police task force known as Neuron who battles against and captures Chimeras. If you’ve played a game developed by Platinum Games before you know you’re in for nonstop action when Astral Chain releases on August 30.
Empire of Sin
If you’re a fan of mafia movies, you’ll probably be a fan of Empire of Sin. A strategy game made by the creator of the original Wolfenstein and Doom. It’s developed by Romero Games and published by Paradox Interactive. Empire of Sin is set to release sometime during the spring of 2020.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: Black Order
Marvel Ultimate Alliance is finally making its return with Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: Black Order and it looks like it could quite possibly be the best one in the series as both heroes and villains from all of Marvel’s biggest series are being included. Nintendo plans to support this title for a while too as DLC is planned and an expansion pass which will feature content from Marvel Knights, X-Men, and Fantastic Four is already available for purchase. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: Back Order will be released for the Nintendo Switch on July, 19.
Cadence of Hyrule
Cadence of Hyrule will be a rhythm game similar to Crypt of the Necrodancer as they are both made by the same developers. You will move and attack enemies to the beat of the game’s soundtrack. This has been the first time Nintendo has allowed an indie developer like Brace Yourself Games to work on one of their big name franchises like The Legend of Zelda. The release date for Cadence of Hyrule was also revealed and it’s very soon as it’s releasing June 13.
Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020
Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 received a reveal trailer and will have Mario, Sonic, along with the rest of their friends and rivals going to Tokyo for the Olympics. New Olympic sports have been added such as Rock Climbing and Skateboarding. Mario and Sonic will return to the Olympic Games when the game releases in November.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Animal Crossing: New Horizons looks like it will have players building a town from scratch on an island owned by Tom Nook. The trailer even shows the player making an ax. While Animal Crossing for Nintendo Switch was originally supposed to be out this year, it has been delayed and will now release March 20, 2020.
Great Games Heading to Switch
A compilation video was shown showing that many great games like Spyro the Dragon: Reignited Trilogy, Stranger Things: The Video Game and Dauntless will be making their way to Nintendo Switch in the near future.
Banjo-Kazooie Joins Smash
Banjo-Kazooie is joining Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Revealed in a trailer that parodied the King K. Rool reveal trailer, Banjo-Kazooie is joining the fight this Fall and is bringing a whole slew of moves and throwbacks from the Banjo games to Smash. It even looks likes Spiral Mountain will make an appearance as well as Banjo-Kazooie’s level.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Sequel
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is getting a sequel that’s now in development. Not much more is known at this point but Link and Zelda’s Adventure will continue at whatever date this may release.
