At Square Enix’s 2019 E3 Conference, they had a lot to present audience members and fans. From new announcements and more information revealed about highly anticipated projects such as: Marvel’s The Avengers, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Kingdom Hearts III Re:Mind DLC, and Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers. And surprising ones such as Outriders and Final Fantasy VIII Remastered. Their presentation was jam-packed with games and content for many of their fans to be excited for.
Previously announced at E3 2017, the highly anticipated Marvel’s Avengers, which is being developed by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal, was shown off at their conference. Set to release world wide on May 15, 2020 on Playstation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC.
This project is set to be the “…defining Avengers’ gaming experience…” as the action-adventure game will be sporting a continuous single-player and co-operative gameplay that supports up to four players.
You’ll be able to customize your characters, develop their skills in order to tailor them to your playing style. Starting off with Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, and Black Widow, players will be able to fight through this unique world and work together to restore the name of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes after being outlawed for the destruction of San Francisco on A-Day, or Avengers Day.
Additional content such as new heroes and worlds, will be made free after launch. While Playstation 4 users will exclusive access to an Early Beta that is set to release later this year. But, attendees at E3 will be able to play an exclusive demo at Square Enix’s Booth.
Final Fantasy VII Remake is set to re-tell the classic adventure of Cloud and the other members of AVALANCHE, who are out to save the planet from dying. It was announced at the Final Fantasy VII: A Symphonic Reunion concert that the game is set to release on March 3, 2020.
However, Yoshinori Kitase, producer of Final Fantasy VII Remake, stated that the story will span over two parts. The first part of the story will emphasize the events that take place in Midgar, but will be more expansive and immersive than ever before. That alone will span over TWO Blu-Ray discs alone.
More importantly, we were given an extensive breakdown of the gameplay mechanics by Neal Pabon, Senior Marketing of Square Enix. The game utilizes a hybrid gameplay system that combines real-time action and strategic command-based combat. Players will be able to switch through party members on-the-fly, each of whom have different play-styles. He also emphasizes the importance of ATB Bars to use special attacks, items, and using Tactical Mode.
The E3 presentation showed a longer version of the trailer that was shown at the orchestra, which indeed showed Tifa.
Lastly, game director Tetsuya Nomura, announced that a playable demo of the game is available at the Square Enix Booth at E3.
Kingdom Hearts III Re:Mind is a DLC that will expand upon the story of Kingdom Hearts III and will attempt to answer lingering questions that happened in the game. It consists of three episodes and the ability to play as Roxas, Riku, and Aqua. As well as the ability to wield the Oathkeeper Keyblade. It was officially revealed after the the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra: World of Tres concert in Los Angeles.
Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers is the third expansion for Final Fantasy XIV Online and aiming to be the biggest one for its 16 Million Registered player-base.
Director and Producer, Naoki Yoshida, said that this expansion should be considered a new game, and has the amount of content comparable to a standalone RPG title.
There are to be new races for players, new and old, to choose from, as well as new jobs.
From the studio behind the development of the cult-classic shooter, Bulletstorm, comes a new IP called Outriders. This, after multiple 15-second clips of the game’s characters waking from their cryogenic slumber was shown, information about what the game is about has been revealed.
In a developer video shown by Sebastian Wojciechowski, Producer at People Can Fly Studios, the game is a dark and modern shooter that takes place in a sci-fi setting. It is single-player or cooperative experience with up to three people playing together. Players will be able to create their own characters as the explore the ravaged lands of the planet Enoch.
The game is set to release Summer 2020, on Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
A surprise that caught many people in attendance was the announcement of Final Fantasy VIII Remastered. A re-telling of its beloved story with characters such as Squall Leonhart and Rinoa Heartilly, will be shown off in updated textures and graphics to help celebrate the game’s 20th Anniversary.
It is set to release later on this year on Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.
