With next generation of home consoles on the horizon, the console life cycle of Rainbow Six: Siege has been questioned. It is clear now, Rainbow Six: Siege 2 will not be happening.
Alexandre Remy of Ubisoft told the Daily Star “we don’t want to do a sequel whatsoever.” Cross platform play was also addressed as Remy stated “..we don’t want to segregate our community between the different platforms. In an ideal world, we’d love players from every platform to be able to play together. We are approaching next-gen with the same spirit”
This should come to the relief of many fans of the series as Ubisoft is keen on their goal of having 100 Operators available for players to use in Siege before releasing a sequel, and knowing that cross-platform play is on Ubisoft’s mind gives console gamers ease of mind that they’ll be able to continue to play the Tom Clancy shooter on next generation consoles, without the need to switch to a different platform.
Though cross-platform play is still a long way from becoming reality, Ubisoft’s reassurance that it is one of its goals should be enough to keep console gamers from jumping ship.
